Frequently asked questions

All our products are hand made locally in the eastern townships.
Does tallow clog pores?
For most people, ,no: tallow is non-comedogenic and very similar to the skin’s natural sebum. It absorbs deeply without leaving a heavy or greasy film.
If you’re acne-prone, start with a small amount to see how your skin reacts. However, every skin type reacts differently, it is important to start with a patch test and then only use small amounts.
Why does the texture of my tallow cream change? or feel grainy?
Tallow is a completely natural ingredient with no stabilizers or synthetic fillers. This means its texture can change depending on temperature.
- Warm environment → softer, whipped, more buttery
- Cooler environment → firmer, thicker
This is totally normal and doesn’t affect quality. If it ever feels too firm, simply warm a small amount between your hands until it melts.
Graininess happens when natural fats cool at different speeds, especially with temperature changes during shipping or storage.
The grains melt instantly with body heat and don’t affect the product’s performance. It’s a natural part of real, unprocessed skincare.
Can I use tallow products if I have sensitive skin?
Most people with sensitive or reactive skin love tallow because it mimics our skin’s natural oils. However, everyone’s skin is different.
We always recommend:
- Patch test first: especially if you have eczema, allergies, or very reactive skin.
- Start with a small amount to see how your skin responds.
Some of our products include gentle essential oils for scent and added benefits. But essential oils can be reactive on certain skin types.
If you know you’re sensitive to fragrances or oils:
- Do a patch test before applying
- Choose unscented or low-essential-oil options if available
- Avoid using on broken or irritated skin
